“Growing Up Hip Hop” star Angela Simmons is mourning the loss of her ex-fiance and the father of her 2-year-old son after he was murdered in Georgia.
Authorities responded to a call of shots fired in a southwest Atlanta house Saturday afternoon, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY. Officers found a male with multiple gunshot wounds inside the home’s garage.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 37-year-old Sutton Tennyson, the father of Simmons’ son, Sutton Tennyson Jr.

Police say the victim was talking to another male in the driveway when the conversation quickly escalated. The suspect shot Tennyson several times and then “sped from the scene in a car,” the statement adds.
The Atlanta PD’s homicide unit is investigating the shooting. So far, no arrests have been made.
Simmons, the daughter of rap legend Rev. Run of Run DMC and the niece of record producer Russell Simmons, took to Instagram Sunday to post a touching tribute to her former fiance.
She shared a picture of Tennyson holding their son, thanking him for “leaving behind my greatest gift.”

She continued: “I’m hurting. I’m numb. Thank you for the out pouring of love everyone. I cant believe I’m even saying Rest In Peace Sutton. I promise to hold SJ down in every way I promise.”
In a second post, Simmons shared a heartbreaking video of their son watching past footage of his dad. The toddler was all smiles and full of laughs looking at a video of the two of them together in a pool.
“Reflecting. He keeps replaying it 💔 RIP Sutton,” Simmons’ captioned the post.

Tennyson and Simmons got engaged in April 2016 and welcomed their son that September. The couple called off their engagement in December 2017 amid cheating rumors.
Simmons stars on “Growing Up Hip Hop” along with Romeo Miller (son of rapper Master P), Kristinia DeBarge (daughter of James DeBarge), Damon “Boogie” Dash (son of Damon Dash) and Egypt Criss (daughter of Pepa Sandra Denton from Salt-n-Pepa).
The show follows the lives of the offspring of hip-hop legends.
